Age of Conan (PC)      
My adventure into Age of Conan is still only at its beginning-the player level cap is currently 80 and there is a plethora of guild and siege-related content as well as the uncountable number of quests and areas to explore-but I've already found myself enamored with the world. With continued updates and more players-even though the game already has a wide player-base- Age of Conan could continue to become a more prominent player in the MMO scene.
 
Age of Conan Collector's Edition      
While Funcom is thrilled with the early success of Age of Conan, and proud of the game launching this week, the company have decided that the DirectX 10 version of the game will not ship with the initial launch. As Microsoft's DirectX 10 is undoubtedly the future of PC gaming, Funcom has decided to ship only the DirectX 9 version at launch, giving the team more time to focus on building a DirectX 10 version worthy of Microsoft's great vision for the future of PC gaming.

I'd say that Age of Conan is a game that any mature MMO player should at least try out, either picking up the game yourself of borrowing a friend's buddy code, once they go active.

Once completed (and you've picked a name of course) it's time to enter the world of Hyboria. Age of Conan sees every player, no matter what class or culture, begin the game with the same back story and in the same starting area. You are a slave aboard a ship, rowing just to stay alive. The ship sinks and you wake up on a beach with a serious case of amnesia.

Funcom is not the only game company to offer this service, as LotRO, Dark Age of Camelot, Hellgate: London, EverQuest and other games have the same payment service available.

All in all, Age Of Conan will become a success for Funcom when it reaches an user base of over 1 million members. It may take the game a while to get there, but, the again, all successful MMO do take longer than expected to flourish.

With the assumption that this large figure excludes those that were involve in beta testing the game, this indicates that the game could be bucking the MMO slump (many other MMOs have struggled to generate a user base larger than two hundred and fifty thousand) that has taken hold of new MMOs that have tried to go toe-to-toe with World of Warcraft.
 
400,000 Playing Age of Conan      
The latest press release from Funcom reveals that over 400,000 people are now pummelling their way through virtual Hyboria, with about half of those coming from North America.
